Writefull

Writefull is an advanced proofreading tool for academic writing, a useful tool for researchers and students who write and publish professional texts in English. It uses artificial intelligence (AI), particularly deep reading algorithms (deep learning), and an extensive language database based on a vast number of already published professional texts. As an academic tool, it can help improve the language expression of written text, thereby increasing the chances of an article being accepted in a renowned scientific journal.

Free online version offers:

  • Academizer: transfers the informal language to the academic one.
  • Paraphraser: rewrites academic sentences into new ones.
  • Abstract Generator: based on your text content, Writefull generates numerous abstracts.
  • Title Generator: suggests suitable titles.
  • GPT Detector: detects text generated by artificial intelligence (AI plagiarism).

Writefull Premium

Available for VSB-TUO member since 2020 and additionally offers:

  • Writefull for Word (plugin for MS Word), and Writefull for Overleaf (Chrome extension for the Overleaf users).
    They include further services such as:
    • Spelling: you can choose between British and American English.
    • Proofreading Mode: suggestions for edits across grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, spelling, style, and more are offered with probability of its usage.
    • Full Edit Mode: checks phrasing and word order to enhance readability of the text.
    • Sentence Palette: collection of example phrases that are very commonly used in academic writing.
    • Language Search: shows you how certain words and phrases are typically used in academic writing, and in what contexts (finds example sentences, further words or synonyms in context, compares words in context, and phrases).

  • Writefull Revise is an online language correction tool for checking a finished article before submitting it to a publisher or conference organiser. Accessible only from the university's Internet network (you can connect from home or abroad to the university network via VPN).

  • Writefull Cite is an online tool that uses linguistic algorithms and AI to identify cited sources to identify parts of academic text that should be referenced in the literature. Accessible only from the university's Internet network (you can connect to the university network from home or abroad via VPN).

Installation of Writefull for Word

    1. Obtain the MS Word plugin by:
      1. downloading it from the Writefull or Microsoft website, or
      2. installing it directly in MS Word via the Insert/Get Add-ons/Store tab,
    2. open your MS Word,
    3. now icon for Writefull will appear on the toolbar,
    4. open Writefull and create a personal account using your university e-mail address.

The plugin can be installed on an unlimited number of devices.

Installation of Writefull for Overleaf

  1. Download the Chrome extension from the Writefull website or Chrome web store,
  2. log in your Overleaf,
  3. click on the Writefull icon on the toolbar,
  4. create a personal account using your university e-mail address.

The extension can be installed on an unlimited number of devices.
